WHAT IS FACILITATION?
One of the keys to harnessing the potential of individuals, teams, communities and organisations is great facilitation. Facilitators are called upon to fill an impartial role in helping groups become more effective. We act as process guides to create a balance between participation and results. In practice this means that the facilitator's job is to support everyone to do their best thinking. To do this, the facilitator encourages full participation, promotes mutual understanding and cultivates shared responsibility. This is not always an easy task when often what occurs under the surface of group life (the egos in the room, the silent battles to be right, to not appear foolish, to be heard or to accept and acknowledge a different paradigm) clouds the work task of the group.. The facilitator manages both the conscious and unconscious elements of the group’s existence from a neutral stance, and skilfully draws out the wisdom of the group present. This enables group members to search for inclusive solutions and build sustainable agreements.
As expert process guides we understand the intricacies of group dynamics and know how to get the best out of groups. Underpinning all our work is a deep commitment to fostering and promoting self awareness. We believe that self awareness is a prerequisite for being a healthy human being!. It helps us relate more meaningfully with others, as well as assisting us to develop empathy for others.
